Actually to answer the op, there is no separate word for sky in koine Greek, the word they use for heaven is the same as what they us for sky, much like what we do in English sometimes when we take poetic license

It has to be in the clouds as stated in the gospels about jesus' ascension and it has to be available to whirlwinds as at least a couple of prophets were reported to have used this method to arrive in heaven.
Furthermore it must be accessible to flying birds if I remember correctly.

But theists don't let little things such as their god's mansion not existing in the clouds to deter them, after all, they like to bank on obscure philosophy knots to alleviate any doubt, and evidence just isn't important to them.

Your taking that verse out of context. Jesus is saying how some will misinterpret signs of the end. Like Jesus on toast.

The misinterpretation of signs is attributed to having a faulty conception of the Kingdom of Heaven as time and place. Jesus was "in their midst" was he not? That reading also applies to the term "at hand" used in relation to the Kingdom of Heaven. To enter the Kingdom of Heaven means to repent and follow Christ.

Wherever the word mansion is used it refers to doctrines since these figuratively house our beliefs. "In the clouds" always means to be obscured by the surface or literal meaning of the text.

If gods intention is too save as many as he can, then wtf would he want with progressive revelation.

Progressive revelation is God's way of matching His message to the understanding of the audience. The literal meaning reaches those with a bronze age level of understanding. With the dawn of the Enlightenment the hidden levels were revealed to reach modern society. As moderns we must approach the text in the manner of moderns.
