Nobody's saying it couldn't. Nor does the fact that some atheists have issues admitting wrongdoing invalidate the fact that some religious folks do too.

It's a very human thing to do, really; we rarely get challenged this directly about beliefs that inform so much of ourselves, so it's almost an automatic reaction to continue assuming that you're right, and to leap to their defense, with offense. Those of us who manage to keep that impulse in check and actually examine the evidence and allow that to inform our views, end up at least agnostic.

Indeed!

Just thought I'd throw it out there. Say you're religious to some folk around these parts and they act like you are about to poison their dog. Wink

They just might be, if they feel the dog has been possessed by the devil. Tongue

If I fully believed Im going to heaven and you're going to hell, I wouldn't give a shit about what anybody thinks.

Insecurity.

Maybe they want everyone to believe the same way? How many atheists get angered when someone spouts that there is no evolution or that the earth is only 6000 years old?

Granted the atheists rarely resort to violence over those issues like many have done in the Moslem world.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Atheists don't get angry with people over reaching different conclusions, we get angry with how those conclusions are reached i.e. via a lack of critical thinking. Nothing personally concerns me more than the lies children are taught by their religious parents, not because I care if they grow up to embrace religion or secularism, but rather because it promotes a fundamentally erroneous methodology for discerning truth from falsehood. And in a world of 7 billion people who collectively have tremendous influence on our environment, that can be potentially lethal.

If by "possessed by the devil" you mean "randomly chews the legs off of Christians," then, yeah. Come get some, Jesus freak. Devil
