When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

No. I do not. Don't plan on any for quite some time either.

When it gets to this level, it has nothing to do with any high horse, jack. Unless you want to say everyone who opposed the War in Iraq was on a high horse...

Yeah get the fuck over yourself. Go cry about the iraq war in some other thread.

In your own words, get the fuck over yourself.

Then this analogy isn't that good, but I think you'll get the gist of it. Imagine that you started a thread about your child taking its first steps or winning an award at school, and then someone helicoptered in an told you that you can't be happy for his/her achievement, because eventually the child will die. It's not a matter of whether your statement about what a dangerous country Mexico is has got any validity or not, it's the manner you presented your thought, which were btw irrelevant to the topic. The next time someone goes on vacation, wish them a happy one, instead of telling them how they will be decapitated and left to rot in a ditch, or keep your thoughts to yourself. If you want to further discuss the state of Mexico, I suggest to create a different thread for it.

So Cthulhu, do you ever eat the foods that most Americans would never eat like corn smut and armadillo?

Or do you prefer the party side with tequila and the great beaches in El Sur?

RE: The atheist invasion of Mexico has begun.
I live at the border doing half my activities in Mexico and half in US soil. People know this and I'm alive. My car has American plates, too. I get treated like royalty.

Truth is that there is a lot of violence in Mexico. The drug cartels have taken over parts of our country and the ignorant have applauded their charity making them seem like heroes. It makes me sick when I hear educated people listening to mafia music at their events.

Have I ever encountered the mafia? No. I have traveled in all of Baja California and not once had a problem. I have also been to Ciudad Juarez and plan on never going again. It's like a war zone with the military guarding the streets and bullet proof cars with criminals threatening it.

It depends on where you go and your purpose. If you are not involved in criminal activity, you have little chances of getting hurt. The whole thing of getting killed at the side of the road is not a common thing. You sound like the Mexicans that say, "I'm never going to US because they are packed with serial killers and crazy mass murderers that kill everybody at the movies and school."

Anyway, have fun Dreaming, and I hope you enjoy the beauty of the pretty places and the yummy food. Muah!

A little of both, though I've never encountered armadillo or been to El Sur. I plan to spend about half my time near the coast, and maybe 2/3 or the time I like to eat at fondas or street carts. I'll eat whatever the comida corrida is, and I can't recall ever not liking what was served.

The rest of the time I'm gonna do a little road trip inland and down the coast away from the heavily touristed areas. I personally am not a fan of the fancy resorts at all. I like to experience it warts and all.

Because I'm not exactly flush with cash at the moment, I'm planning on going native for most of my eats this trip. I do have plans to hit a few more expensive restaurants that I know from prior trips. That's an indulgence, though. Mostly I'm there to relax and do a lot of nothing.

That I will. You know, for all the shitty things that happen in Mexico - the people are very friendly, with an interesting culture - and they know how to cook some damned delicious food.
