Homer Simpson

Homer Simpson
I just realized something.

Homer Simpson is portrayed as a pathetic idiot.

Homer Simpson works at a nuclear power plant. He is responsible for the safe operation of a potentially highly dangerous plant for producing energy.

Therefore he contributes to society the safe creation of energy. Energy used for food preparation (microwaves, electric ovens), food storage (refrigeration), communication (computers, cell phones), etc.

My job is nowhere near as important.

I thought you were then going to say: "So why hasn't he caused a nuclear meltdown yet?"

^This. From a comedy, so less.

The point is thta cartoons don't have to follow realism or logic. There's no way Homer Simpson would keep a job like that for long. Assuming he'd get it in the first place.

You'd think he would work at a beer factory, wouldn't you?

To an extent, of course.
