R.I.P. P.S.H.

Some of you may be familiar with Philip Seymour Hoffman. If you're not, he was in Almost Famous, Doubt, Red Dragon, Capote, Synecdoche NY, The Hunger Games: Catching fire, and all of Paul Thomas Anderson's films except There Will Be Blood. As you might have guessed, he's probably one of the best actors in recent years.

As you also might have guessed from the thread title, he just died. He was apparently found dead in his Manhattan apartment with a needle in his arms. And, really, I really think, to quote the line from Death of a Salesman, attention must be paid.

And so, for the time being, in the absence of any halfway-decent tribute montage being prepared, here's some clips of him at his best.

And, finally, one from one of my all-time favourite films:

This is really depressing. He was one of the best actors I've ever seen. I was shocked when I saw this on twitter.

Damn shame man. Great actor, never saw all of his films but every time I did see him I knew I was watching pure acting class. He only seemed to be getting better with age too, I recently watched the Master, unbelievable acting in that film.

It's going to be weird watching the next Hunger Games now.

It's also a shame he won't get as much media attention as Paul Walker. I liked Walker, but Hoffman is the infinitely better talent.

His role as Dusty in Twister was the first I remember seeing him. Such a talent.

He was talented but he was ugly, so I'm pretty neutral about the whole thing. But when someone's life is cut short due to addiction, it's always sad.

He was a fine actor, and I enjoyed virtually every film in which he acted. I will miss his remarkable talent.

My roommate, while watching the news, was like, Who is this guy? I've never heard of him.

Fine and talented actor who enhanced everything I ever saw him in.

Way too young to die (younger than me).

Sad news.

So, would you be less neutral if a talented, good-looking actor died? Shallow much?
