As fucked up as much of the GOP is, I just don't think they have the stomach for someone that has been vocal about pushing a social conservative agenda.
Also consider this:
90s: H.W. Bush
00s: W. Bush
10s: Jeb
Haven't you heard? Bush is back baby....

As someone from Pennsylvania, I apologize on behalf of the people in my state. That being said, please don't send him back.
Anyways, my money for the next Republican nomination is on the psuedo-Libertarian fucktard Rand Paul.
If only we could make that bet real. There is NO chance he will be the next GOP nomination.

Besides, he hugged Obama. He's dead to the GOP base. The first would be a point in his favor if he can "turn New Jersey around." The latter is the real problem for him. The GOP loved Rudy Giuliani for walking into liberal NYC and straightening it out, but not enough that he was a serious candidate for national office.
The problems that Giuliani faced when he considered national office (such as his liberal stance on issues like abortion, gay rights, gun control, etc) is the reverse of the problem Santorum will face in a general election. He cannot distance himself from his strong religious attitude without alienating his base, but I think he may be "un-electable" otherwise. How difficult will it be to link him to people like Pat Robertson (who can be counted on to make inflammatory statements in "support" of Santorum)?
His one hope is that if Hillary is his opponent, her choices (of running mate and how she runs her campaign) could provide him with just enough electoral votes to win. Especially if he gets a high turnout in his favor and liberal voters (especially younger ones) stay home in large enough numbers.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

If HIllary runs the young/liberal wing will be out in droves for the chance to elect the first woman president.
And if Santorum runs the nuts will vote in droves for the first insane president.

My problem with that kind of bush is an issue of logistics. You really don't want to have to fight your way through the overgrown jungle when you make your way to the sacred temple when you're paying homage to the goddess. It has nothing to do with "latent pedophilia" as the article suggested but more a matter of practicality. On the other hand, shaving is a painful process for her, so I've heard, so I can understand when they don't.

It's pretty rare to find an extremist who thinks of themselves as extreme. They just find another group who's even more extreme and say "I'm really a moderate! I mean, look how crazy they are!"
Except there aren't any that are more crazy then them. Instead they consider moderates as extreme.

Not if Hillary's the alternative. I doubt that it's likely Santorum will be the Republican nominee. I think the Republicans will pull behind Christie if he gets the nomination. The left is scared to death of Christie because he's a threat to Hillary in 2016. Even MSLSD is running scared and has been airing a 24 / 7 smear Christie campaign. Obamacare is going to cause big problems for xcrats in the midterms. The Republicans have an excellent opportunity to retake the Senate and to retain the House as well.

Agreed. Their approach is simply to create a new reality with a separate set of facts. Also, their idea of "extreme" is on the left. Obama to them is a "socialist" while to those living in reality, he's an Eisenhower Republican, borderline on being a Conserva-dem.
They've gone so far to the right wing that the center, the left and the far-left have all merged together, like when you look at buildings on the horizon. These structures may be in reality far apart but from such a great distance, they all seem to blur together.

I'll support her now if she's to be the nominee but I decided in 08 to go with the devil I don't know, hoping he'd be better.
I agree he's been a phenomenal disappointment but that was my reasoning at the time. Given the information I had, it seemed the best choice at the time.

You'd think they'd run someone like Susana Marinez, but apparently they still don't think changing demographics are a problem for them.
