There's no such thing as an ideal Christian as everyone bears their own weight of sin.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

I have to agree with Min. The question was what is ideal, not what is realistic. And I can't ignore a bit of Hindu self-interest in seeing Christianity perish.

Fair point. My ideal Christian would be an ex-Christian.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Thank you.

Well, I can say that, at least, I don't try to manipulate him, but I do think I unintentionally steer him towards atheism. I mean, if I'm reading a news article on atheism or watching a youtube vid on atheism or anything like that, it has an influence on him. It's especially easy for that to influence him because he's just so passionate about science and when he hears some of the garbage science that comes from religious corners, he just gets this perplexed look on his face, like he's wondering "What is wrong with his head that he could actually believe something so stupid?!?"

Not to mention, he's been kinda scarred by his upbringing and religion in general. It's hard to really embrace something that's hurt you as much as his church has hurt him (not to mention, hearing some of the bizarre rantings of his schitzophrenic biological father, that's also going to turn you away from the church).

Bravo. The ones who have come to their senses are indeed the best.

I try not to be so hateful and rash towards other beliefs. Is it true that I don't agree with your religion and think the world is better with out it? yes, yes I do.

I can respect a person though, and respect you chose to believe in what ever your faith is. I don't push a converting agenda, so they would need to do the same. I also don't mind talking religion as long as both people are doing it in a calming matter and not trying to talk down to one another.

Stupidity will rule out everything though.

For me, they don't have to be de-converted to be ideal.

All I want in a person is for them to be kind and ethical to others. If they want to believe in a higher power, that's fine. As long as they keep it to themselves and don't try to change other people, it doesn't bother me one bit. Many agnostics/atheists believe it's so sad that people go through life clinging to deities, but I don't mind that so much. People find their own happiness, just as I have. My ideal Christian (or any theist) is someone who is a good person, is open to thoughtful discussion, and doesn't judge or try to change others.

Basically, don't be a dick.
