Marriage equality: Texas

I agree - and what the SC does with it depends on how it's argued. If the SC decides it based upon the Equal Protection Clause, it's game over - unless this court feels like reversing itself.

Unfortunately, gay couples won't be able to get married immediately and there's almost certainly going to be an appeals process; and a lot of those mega-churches with insane amounts of money are probably going to use that money to finance the appeals, not to mention the Republicunts the state keeps putting in office.

Still, the longer this goes on, the more it seems like same sex marriage is inevitable; they can fight against it and delay things and maybe even pass other laws to make things difficult for us, but in the end, we're gonna win.

I predicted that Texas of all places would legally recognise same sex marriages, before Australia does.

If nothing else, the humiliation of being overtaken by Texas will hopefully galvanize the Aussies to get with the program.

Meanwhile, Christian marriages have the highest divorce rate. Oh, the irony!
When will the hypocrites stop being allowed to create laws that govern society?

Governor Shithead of Arizona has vetoed the bill.

Expect the preachers to whine like the fucking pussies they are.

Yes, the conservative marriage mantra: "marriage shall be between one woman and one man...er, and also his mistress."

But progress and change takes time. The sad part is this, though...that even when laws are passed, people are still free to be bigots. And equality needs to really take place in a person's heart and mind. Laws are a start. But, I blame religion. Religion has created these lines in the sand. Division. Racism. Bigotry. Homophobia.

I blame religion 100% for the "moral" wars of society.

Not only that, but the state with the lowest divorce rate? It's the same state that was the first to recognize marriage equality. Most of the states on the low-end have also done so.

The states with the highest rates of divorce? I'm sure you can guess.

States with the highest divorce sometimes have people marry as soon as possible so they can start having sex. That's why you have people marrying when they're 18-19 years old in "abstinence only" areas.

I grew up in a tiny Southern town in the bible belt and it seemed like everyone was getting laid in high school but me.

A lot of fucking going on for all the churches every block.

I remember saying in middle or high school that I wanted to only date virgins because I really didn't want STDs, and someone informed me the chances of that were quite low. I referred to those girls as sluts, and coincidentally did not get any dates. Obviously I should have tried harder when I was young.
