Atheists send me links that make it seem like there's no God, then Christians send me link that make it seem like there is. Also my parents talk about God like they know him personally. Some Sundays after church he has a guy come over from our church and they just talk about how wonderful God and Jesus are in such detail for a couple hours. Also whenever someone in our family's dealing with any problems he'll just start getting into how much Jesus loves them and Satan's evil and how everything's gonna be fine. My parent's say my OCD is the enemy trying to trick me because he sees the potential I have. I was once talking to my dad about how God didn't really make sense and then in the middle of our conversation he said the Lord told him in his mind to NOT talk about this stuff with me. I once brought up the evil stuff God did in the Bible to my mom and after trying to pass it off as just the law she said "Are you trying to ruin your mother?". I agree the Christian God makes no sense, but these people I love and trust so much make it out like it's the most certain fact on this planet.

I think you do.

Really, pages of posts.

By the way- the silver fox experiment (a poster referred to) was done by adding selective breeding to the mix (intelligence) so that is a bogus way to
try to prove evilution.
And the speckled moth thing has been debunked. The moths do not behave as the so called scientist claim.
Here is a youtube vid you may like:
The theory of everything by Trey Smith.
I posted a link here last yr. and of course they didn't like it.
Trey is amazing, so are his other vids.
See you in the air.
They want God to come to them and show Himself, or do a miracle.
They think this is like Burger King where you get to have it YOUR way.
Atheist are angry about it.
However the apostle Paul declared the creation shouts the glory of God.
They only need to humble themselves and pray the God of Heaven show them the truth. Become childlike.
God is always waiting (having already made the first step toward us) for our step to Him.

Statler Waldorf (a brilliant Christian poster here) has a signature that says it all: "There is no God" "And I hate him"

Evolution is the greatest hoax in history and it is clung to because the only alternative is Creation.
Just as Adam and Eve hid (they thought) from God, people hide today.

Becoming a Christian was the last thing I wanted to do- getting off the throne of my life and surrendering WAS hard, but Jesus said, "If anyone will TRULY determine to DO the will of God- he will know My teaching- whether it comes from God or from man".

I also suggest looking on youtube for Ravi Zecharia for amazing insight into Christian and atheist thinking.

Now, pray that the Holy Spirit directs your path.
You are not on your own.
If you never give up (the Gospel path)- you automatically win."

He doesn't seem to be lying to me.

Education is your friend try opening up a science book and really read what evolution is before you put it down and embarrass yourself

You want to get really philosophical with that question, ask yourself this: what if two people sincerely believe that they're both telling the truth, even though they're both telling the opposite story? Who's telling the truth there? And which is more important, that they be accurate or that they believe what they're saying is accurate?

Anyway, yes, there are plenty of sources out there that claim evolution is false. That has always seemed to happen whenever science makes a claim that contradicts theology, so I'm not surprised.

I think that quote at the end says everything. When it comes to your own understanding, you know god doesn't make sense, but when it comes to what other people tell you, they say the idea of no-god makes no sense. I still say trust what you know instead of what other people know because other people can manipulate others into doing some pretty fucked up things.

Your parents haven't talked to the creator of the universe, sorry, they're just talking to themselves. No one has, everything we know about the world has obviously been found out the hard way. Sorry god, what's the mass of the higgs boson? Oh right, noone knew before 2012... Would have been such asimple info to relay...

Word of advice for you Jesuslover1. And I don't mean this in any way snarkily.

chill!

The nice thing about God is that your view, and my view, and your parents view, and the view of everyone here DON'T CHANGE THE REALITY.

If he's real, and you have doubts, Its cool! The bible invites you to study and to think. God made you in his image and that includes the ability to think and reason.

If he's not real, you have all the time in the world to discover that he's not. If you believe and it turns out you're wrong, it does little harm (unless you go around starting wars or burning abortion clinics etc, in which case, knock that shit off right now.)

I think that you are subconsciously falling into the trap of thinking that what you decide about God decides what is real. It really doesn't.

The only other thing I would say is that heaven (if its real) offers no corperate memberships. From what you say it sounds to me as if your faith is in large part driven and motivated by what those around you tell you. It doesn't work like that. You have to make up your own mind, for yourself. God does not accept family memberships.

But mainly, chill brethren. Its ok to have doubts. Its ok to be uncertain. Its OK to believe something without knowing it for sure. There is implied pressure in many Christian communities to be 100% guns blazing on fire for Jesus. I don't think that's right, or scriptural. I think If Jesus wants you, he wants you as you are, and would prefer you full of honest doubt rather than professing a pitch and certainty of faith you don't truly hold. Be honest with yourself.

My parents are the same way, JL. You have to realize something. Your parents were most like indoctrinated from childhood the same as you. Only about one out of every twelve people indoctrinated in religion from childhood ever escape that imprisonment of the mind.

My mother has even chillingly mentioned something along the lines of, "Get 'em while they're young, and they'll never leave the Lord." when telling me I should take my kids to church.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

This, especially in this case, can't say it often enough!

My whole worry is that I'll pick the wrong thing. What if I'm an atheist/agnostic and Christianity's right? I'll go to hell! What if I'm a Christian and something like Islam's right? I'll go to hell! The fear of hell is what keeps religion relevant to me.
