The Jesus Shot

RE: The Jesus Shot
Yes, Huggy, clearly they are referring to some other Jesus and not the lord and savior of the Christian version of reality. It is an ENORMOUS assumption to conclude this has anything to do with Jesus Christ. Clearly the shot is called the Jesus shot because the name has a nice ring to it.

It is actually
If you want to be technical Jesus's name in aramaic is actually "Yeshua" which is a variant of the hebrew name Yehoshua (Joshua) from the old testament. They have the same exact meaning.

From Wikipedia

"Yeshua is also used in Israeli Hebrew historical texts to refer to other Joshuas recorded in Greek texts such as Jesus ben Ananias and Jesus ben Sira"

The reason I didn't point that out myself is twofold: one, I don't trust myself not to go off when that odious little fraudster came back with "Oh, but he's not talking about Jesus Christ! It's a common name!"

And two, I don't want to dignify his idiotic little shell game with a proper response. Because I don't really think Huggy goes around in his day to day wondering why people keep using "in Jesus' name!" and so on, referring to the generic name. I think he's being a dishonest cunt because all he's got is this sophistic little tapdance, and nothing else.

This guy Huggy is a fantastic mental gymnast. I give it a 10! A motherfuckin' 10!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Does anyone think for a moment that if a tornado swept over a mountainside and wrote the word "Jesus" in the wake of its destruction, that Huggy would be telling everyone to quit their assumptions that it's a sign from god, because after all, Jesus is a very common name? Thinking

once again with the assumptions, where in the story that you linked, does it say anything about "Christ" or even states the man is religious? Because it's called the "Jesus shot"? Jesus is a pretty common name, besides it states in the story and I quote “I don’t know why [Lonergan] calls it that.” So I guess that makes it religious the same way scientists referring to the Higgs boson as the "God" particle makes them religious.

Ooops.

It's called the jesus shot because he was praying to jesus on the way to someone's house and jesus gave him the formula.

It COULD be that he was praying to the Mexican mailman jesus, who had an interest in biochemistry.

Btw, love that you start by chastising people for assumptions, then make assumptions leading you to guess something which a 30 second Google search proved to be wrong.

Indeed. Hence the need for 30 seconds of additional research which revealed that this guy is indeed invoking jesus as the inspiration for his snake oil, which he is selling for a handsome profit, presumably to people who believe his claims of divine revelation. So it it appear that the filthy heathen scum got it right and you got it wrong.

Beware of false profits (sic)

I saw the title and thought this would be about the most common utterance accompanying male ejaculation.
