Why no miracles anymore?

Ah, but remember that god invented the rainbow to show Noah that he would never flood the earth again. Wink

We do get some here and there.
The wonder is there are any at all, given the wall of skepticism, unbelief, secular and satanic attack on all sides, especially in the churches.
The notion that all miracles ended with the apostles is a brilliant scheme devised by satan.

Quote:According to NOAA’s Spring Outlook released today, rivers in half of the continental United States are at minor or moderate risk of exceeding flood levels this spring with the highest threat in the southern Great Lakes region due to above-average snowpack and a deep layer of frozen ground. Additionally, drought is expected to continue in California and the Southwest.

When asked where they are, you turn around and call us adulterous. How nice of you.

So if only the true believers can partake in miracles, why did the armies of Pharaoh witness the parting of the Red Sea? How many of those freed Israeli slaves do you think had true faith in Moses and their god? How many people with only a speck of faith do you think partook of the wine that Jesus turned from water? How many people do you think would have noticed Lazarus suddenly up and waltzing about again after being three-days stone cold dead? Are you suggesting that all those who sought to see the risen Lazarus were a bunch of miracle-seeking adulterous boobs?

This. This right here is why you cannot rely on scripture; its words will inevitably fail you as it's myriad authors could not fully anticipate the complexity of the human condition.

I didn't call you adulterous. You owned that.

The observation wasn't by someone who didn't believe these were miracles now was it?

So there is not and has not been for a long time ANYONE on the entire Earth that has the faith and righteousness to invoke any magic from God?

Sounds to me like we are overdue for another flood.

Can you show how you reach your conclusion based on what I said please?

Frodo, you dishonest dingbat. When you quoted scripture at us, you were essentially calling is adulterous. Since you so desire to turn that around on me, please explain exactly how I "owned that". Please don't think too hard about it because you'll find that I didn't. At all.

Next, they're either going to list a set of unconfirmed, unconfirmable nonsense miracle claims like weeping statues, or Fatima, or some bullshit like that, or they're going to list a bunch of completely explainable, normal phenomena in the natural world, and claim that god does that, therefore miracles.

I'm going to paraphrase Tim Minchin and his famous poem "Storm":

By definition, events of "the supernatural" are either proven not to be true or not proven to be true. Do you know what they call a supernatural event that is proven to be true?

Natural.

You see, if it really exists, it can be potentially observed, studied and eventually understood and explained. Once it can be understood and explained, it's incorporated into our concept of the natural universe.

If it turned out that ghosts really were real, for example, scientists could eventually invent Dr. Venkman style devices that could detect ectoplasmic energy signatures or even capture ghosts in a box as long as you don't cross the streams. Or like in Supernatural where Sam and Dean have devices that can detect spiritual disturbances.

In response to Esq-
Jesus made an amazing statement to the leaders of his day.
He said,"You make the word of God to no effect BY YOUR TRADITIONS".

Therefore, there would be an effect by the word of God - (thru people- that is usually how God works) if the lies of tradition weren't in them.

Since faith comes by hearing, if you are hearing falsehoods- those falsehoods have the ability to block faith.
It is apparent in the Bible, that God has chosen the manner of acting on belief prior to seeing the result. We have plenty of input all around us to interfere with that process.

Some people used to tie strings around their finger. Yahweh needed to fundamentally alter the way light interacts with water to remind himself not to slaughter the entire planet again.

True, because the Judeo-Christian religions believe that their God is unchanging. If the deity remains the same, never-changing, then there will logically be nothing new to add on the atheist front. Atheists have already debunked the bible, seemingly the only book theists have to offer circular reasoning in claiming their beliefs to be non-fiction. The only new atheist arguments that arise are those in relation to apologists, and those arguments are too easy to dismiss because the theist cannot seem to think logically in relation to his religious beliefs.
