RE: Vikings
I love Vikings, Lagertha and Athelstan are my fave characters. I think Athelstan is very much like some people who are questioning their faith and moving towards atheism, the questioning and the associated fear.

My favourite characters are King Horric, and Floki.

Floki about christians:

'They worship a false god. They are fleece and vermin.'

That should be 'fleas and vermin' rather Drunk Typing

RE: Vikings
This is up next on the list for me. I can't watch Vikings and GOT at the same time. But my good friend Chris has been trying to get me to watch Vikings for like two years.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

RE: Vikings
Hm. King horric chose to fight in bad terrain. He left himself exposed to a pincer move. Ragnar saw it, but he would not listen.
Bad, bad tactics.
