debunking UFO theories
[Snip!]
Since the last week, videos started popping up on youtube claiming there's a UFO on Mars, photographed by MSL. Most youtube viewers believe these ridiculous claims.
However, if these same viewers were presented with facts in a simple and cool way, I think they would figure out how naive they were to actually believe these UFO theories, and "theorists" would get laughed out.

So I've said to myself lets start debunking them all, one by one.

I thought this would be a good way to say hello to this forum. The video tells what my views are. If you have any suggestions I'll appreciate them and I would like to know if anyone else here is doing the same on youtube?

I've also noted your typical 'woo' will not criticize another 'woo' no matter how conflicting and contradictory their POVs are.

If there is a mutilated cow found, and one 'woo' declares definitively that it was a chupacabra attack, and another says it is obviously another attack from the Voltones from Alpha Upsilon 18, neither 'woo' will criticize the other for being wrong, but both will agree anyone else pointing out it was coyotes (again) is part of a government conspiracy to hush up the mutilation.

Additionally, I think a corollary exists in the religion orbit, Southern Baptists and Mormons will ignore their mutual belief the other is going to burn in the bowels of Hell if there is an Atheist around to criticize.

...I think you've just got yourself out of context

Anyway, my video is censored by an admin so I guess I'll have to blabla before posting anything meaningful here.
Apparently I'm "advertizing"

Though that's understandable precaution by forum staff, why am I allowed to post a website url on my profile, but disallowed to post a video in my post?

I don't need an answer. I'll go with 30day/30posts requirement.
I guess this thread should be locked then? Without the video it's pointless.

Forget mutilated cows whose injuries are not yet fully explainied - What about crop circles? Even after the perpetrators of the hoaxes (crop circles) have owned up and shown how it was done, the UFO nutters still want to blame it on aliens!

As Carl Sagan said: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Kind of surprised Professor hasn't floated in here and started posting from his flying saucer.

You aren't - it's an oversight.

ETA: I thought you were referring to something in a signature - AFAIK we have no issue about setting the "Homepage" profile element (as long as it doesn't point to something we would otherwise not allow linking to, like porn, etc).

Apparently someone hasn't read the rules.

I love it when they give a full confession. Big Grin
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Should you stick around and become a regular member, you'll find that we're not near as rigid as you may currently think. With exception to porn and physical threats, there is very little censorship here.

Indeed, and the reason why we don't allow new members to post such things is that it gives us a tool to deal with the drive-by promoters - the people who have no interest in our forum other than as a free resource to promote their site, blog, youtube channel, or what have you.

We don't mind if people do that - if they're actually interested in being part of this community.

It is admittedly a bit of a pain in the ass for new members at times.
