Meh, they stayed true to the original. Undecided

The fact that Brian Cranston was in it is enough to make this a silly statement.

I was dragged to see it, but liked it.

Yeah but he was only in it for 20 minutes. And I found it ridiculous that everyone in Japan speaks English.

They shoulda made the whole movie about Cranston's character. Have his idiot son die instead, and then send one of the two genuinely interesting characters in the movie on a cross-country trek to make sure his daughter-in-law and grandson are safe.

Much more interesting movie, right there.

Cranston was the only reason I wanted to see it. This is disappointing news.

Though his performance was the best in the film, I was pissed when they killed him off.

Which statement?
Because if you're referring to MY statement than your conclusion is completely errant.

I have to assume that you're referencing MY statement because you're responding to MY post, not the OP.
With that being clarified, my statement cannot be silly simply because you happened to like the movie. I have not seen the movie and my remark was clearly about Pickup's opinion of it. Now, if you had said that my statement is silly because the original Godzilla movies are awesome, than your statement would at least have come to a logical conclusion because I was indeed stating that the originals are bad movies.

I was merely making a point that the original Godzilla movies were foreign made garbage unworthy of watching. If HE feels that this new Godzilla movie sucked ....... well, you see my point. Your remark about "silliness" should've been directed at the OP.

Which is an odd point to make because there are lots and lots of old Godzilla movies, and they do vary quite a bit in terms of quality; some of them aren't bad at all. I mean, they're all schlock, but some aren't bad as schlock goes.

Rotten Tomatoes seem to like it, both critics and the audience. Interesting, although I don't always agree with them and I doubt I'll see in theaters.

Well IF you're referring to my "terrible acting" comment, Cranston was the exception, and hardly so because his lines still sucked.

Spoilers ahoy!

1. I disappointed they killed Bryan Cranston off so early in the movie. He's the only reason I bothered to see it.

2. I thought for sure the chick was either Mary Kate or Ashley. Today I learned the Olsen twins have a younger sister.

I must be the only person that really liked this movie, and I'm not a fan of monster movies.

To me, most monster movies feel cheesy as hell, but this movie felt more...real. I liked the characters, even if the big name was only in it for a short while. I thought the lead was great. The story kept rolling at a pace that held my attention and I enjoyed the action sequences. But, my favorite part of this movie were the scenes between monster and lone human. I thought they were genuinely terrifying and awesome. The train bridge with the MUTOs? Amazing juxtaposition. And I'm okay with Godzilla being the "good" monster. Not that he cares about humans, he is more like a god killing his quarry while the ants look on and hope they survive the epic battle.

So, I liked it a lot. I'd go watch it again. I was thoroughly entertained.
