My chaplain is my psychiatrist and therapist. No god or religion required, just pure science. If I had a religion, it would be my curiosity in programming and physics, but new information backed by evidence always changes my mind...so it's definitely not a religion. haha. There's no reason for using only HTML and CSS when we have beautiful JAVASCRIPT. Muahhaaha.

I just want to know what the aim of redefining a lack of belief as a belief system is.

To dismiss it as "just another religion"?

Doesn't that imply Christianity is "just another religion," like Islam is "just another religion"?

To answer the OP's question, it depends. Is not collecting stamps a hobby? Is bald a hair color? Is "off" a TV channel? Is absence of sound a noise? Is vacuum a physical medium?
If the answer to all of these questions is "Yes", then yes, atheism is a religion. However, if you want to be honest about it, then the answer is a resounding "No".
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

No, not believing in your god is not a belief system. It is simply the failure of your beliefs to elicit the same in me. I won't pretend to know what your god is but I find no reason to worry about it.
