"Capitalism is here to stay, and we need a church model that corresponds to that reality. Read Nietzsche. Nietzsche’s diagnosis of the weak modern Christian democratic man was spot on. Jesus was a great man. Jesus said he was the Son of God. Jesus made things happen. Jesus had faith. Jesus actually made people better. Then came the Christians. What happened? What went wrong?"

"Can Christians force others to follow their ethical teachings on social issues? Note that consistency is lacking on all sides of this issue. The political Right likes to champion individual rights and individual liberty, but it has also worked to enforce morality in relation to abortion, gambling, and homosexuality. The Left likes to think of itself as the bulwark of progressive liberal individualism, and yet it seeks to progressively coerce others to fund every social program under the sun via majority rule. Houston, we have a problem. Coercion is on the rise. What is the root word for liberalism? (Answer: Liberty)."

Does that sound like your typical "Republican Jesus" rhetoric, Min?

I'm not saying I like this guy. I do think, however, despite his problems, he's a vast improvement on Canter and most other D.C. politicians.

Voters in that district are pretty conservative and they obviously didn't believe Cantor was conservative enough for them, especially where granting amnesty to illegal immigrants are concerned.
The fact that other Republican incumbents won their pimaries shows that this isn't a national trend, otherwise democratic incumbents would have to worry as well, at least not until the mid-terms.

Sounds like one of those districts that wouldn't vote for Christ if he came back and ran for office.

Yes. They're always blabbering about fucking jesus and how, coincidentally, jesus wants whatever they want. Fuck jesus and fuck them.

Meanwhile, even though he is a satirist...I think Borowitz has accurately predicted the gist of the republicunt reaction.

Despite everyone's political views, can we at least agree that the win was a victory for the American people in this one aspect? (I think this is very important).

Ah!

Payback's a bitch.

Quote:Virginia's lack of party registration makes it difficult to pin down whether Democrats crossed over in large numbers, but local level turnout provides some indirect clues on whether this phenomenon was widespread. On two counts, the data cast doubt on whether Democratic cross-over voting caused Cantor's loss.

They don't know who voted.
