You would be correct, EP. Moaning Myrtle.

Yes, I know. My favorite books growing up. My mom actually used to hide the Harry Potter And The Order Of Phoenix from me because I read it like a million times. I never appreciated any other piece of literature more than I did that series of books.

We have all the books and the movies as well. Every once in a while the kids and I will have a HP movie marathon weekend.

My only criticism of the HP series is the lack of dimensionality in all the muggle characters. Rowling simply fails to make me care about everyday people. Given my penchant for muggledom, what do I care what kids with sticks may do?

I read two of the Harry Potter books to see what the fuss was about. I still don't know. they were ok, but I've read better books on similar subjects. All in all a bit Meh. But then I've never understood why some things get popular and other more deserving things don't.

True confession: I've never read any Rowling but I did stay awake through parts of one or more of the movies when they were shown on TV and there was nothing else decent on.   Sleepy

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think I look forward to reading them to my kid for a bit of escapism. I myself have only seen the films.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Pratchett spoiled me for lesser writers.

I think it highly possible that you may be right. Big difference between 6 million and 6 trillion.

My only excuse is that in school my math teacher was arrested as a cell leader in the notorious al Gebra movement. Our classroom was littered with weapons of math instruction and I got taken out by a stealth bomber disguised as a pop quiz. It was terrible.
