Nobody should feel bad about it. The only thing I take issue with is the word starving. Poor and hungry maybe, but virtually nobody in the United States is really starving in the true sense of the word.

Perhaps a bit hyperbolic, I agree.

So you lose a $100 dollars you could have used to buy something else to improve your lot even further(like diapers for instance). Just give the poor person $200 cash instead of food stamps and this waste goes away.

This is the system in the UK and it gets seriously abused. I have a friend/acquaintance that lives off his supposedly disabled kid. He has a top of the line PC worth £1000's and he and his wife smoke and drink to excess and neglect the kid and its siblings yet plead poverty constantly. I don't have any problem with them getting money to assist with the kids disabilities (not that he has any I can discern) but the i do with abuse of the funds.

You're telling the poor how they ought to handle their poverty there. Not arguing your implied suggestions - just mentioning that it can get out of hand awfully quick. I had plenty of nice shit when I was destitute, didn't make me less destitute. Nobody was tripping over themselves to buy my pc. Would have been even shittier if I didn't have a pc, come to think of it.

I'd personally rather have a modicum of abuse than people going without necessities.

Err on the side of empathy, rather than apathy.

If this couple is neglecting their kids the proper resolution would be to involve your country's version of child protective services. The government deciding what poor people should buy and not buy is simply punishing all the poor because some will make bad choices.

Remember...this phenomena of the state dole is only going to grow because automation is rendering human labor obsolete......and that's not a bad thing. Don't be surprised one bit if your children or grand children end up on the dole. The day is coming where just about everyone will enjoy and awesome lifestyle without the need to work.....we just don't want that lifestyle managed by big brother.

Trouble is, the rich motherfuckers hate seeing them so they unleash their thug cops to harass them.

That car is really not that nice. You can buy one for about $4k. What's the problem here? Holy shit somebody driving a $4k car to the wic spot. If she is poor, better to look the part? The subject might have an easier time if she stopped worrying so much about the stares and and stupid ass comments of other people when driving her motorcycle engine powered "Mercedes." Just concentrate on the music from the cassette player that thing came with instead.

Poor people aren't allowed to have anything nice or enjoy life in the slightest. If a family is in such dire financial straits that they require government assistance, they should live completely joyless lives and spend not one penny on fun or entertainment.

Nope. That means they aren't working hard enough, and everybody knows poor people are poor because they don't work hard enough.
