Romans objected to Jewish monotheism because it negated the nationalistic part of Roman religion. Roman and other pagan temples also served as market places. As well as requiring that Roman busts be displayed in Jewish temples, the Romans required that the Jewish temples allow markets. It was a subjugation tactic. If there was a real Jesus, I think that the overturning of the tables was an anti-Roman act. Maybe it was the one that got him crucified.
