I'd like to propose a simple rule:
No religion that believes in eternal Hell for non-believers can be deemed either peaceful or loving in nature.
A god that tortures someone eternally for no other reason then their metaphysical beliefs is clearly not a god that prescribes peace or love toward them during their lives, no matter what else is written in their holy texts. Actions speak louder than words.
