I dont think I can watch another beheading, but from what I understand sotloff was made to debase himself and the country before they removed his head.. But, the dude didn't cry kick or scream. I think that would be my perfer method of beheading. I would cry, kick, bite, poop my pants and scream and tell them to eat sand before I read or promoted their propaganda. I am thinking most people would do this if they knew they were doing to be, killed in the worse possible way no matter what.

I have to turn the channel when they start to show those videos. Our drill sergeants in OSUT forced us to watch them as a reminder to never let yourself be taken alive by insurgents. After taps they would sometimes play the audio over a loudspeaker. That shit is still seared into my mind.

Terms aside, his analysis appears to be correct. The men have been gravely tortured.

Should the US reply in kind? We've already decided legally that the waterboarding torture is A-ok. Bush said it wasn't torture enough. So since we're just a step away from sawing a tortured man's head off, should we just take that next step or do we wait for another republican president?

Is months of waterboarding torture worse than 30 seconds of having your throat cut?

We weren't water boarding for the sake of putting people though hell or just to do is as a way to mindlessly get back at people, nor to even put off or scare terriosts. We did as a means of extracting information.

None of which is true with the decapitations of the journlists. These acts are to exert authority and terror over a perceived enemy.

I can think of worse ways to die than being beheaded, but since the brain can function after severing the head it isn't an instant kill. I think the reason they put a bag over your head is probably so they don't have to watch the eyes and mouth move before the head runs out of blood.

Their was no bag on James foley. I did not watch what happened to sotloff.

I haven't watched any of these videos, and I will not. I reckon that doing so is allowing those assholes rent-free headspace.

As for waterboarding, I think Obama barred its use via executive order in 2009, instructing both the DoD and CIA to use the Army Field Manual edition of 2006, which bars it. That's a good start. Torture is a blot on our nation and we ought not practice it under any circumstances. It's a shame that Bush, Cheney, Soo, et al will never be prosecuted for ordering and/or "justifying" it.
