RE: Resurrection in History
The term is "diabolical mimicry," Dolorian. The notion that "the devil" was so smart that he one-upped god! Xtians make their boy look like an asshole at times.

Quote:Essentially, these early Christian apologist were saying "So what, our religions looks similar to your religions, but we did not copy from you. The devil mimicked our religion in your religion in anticipation of the advent of our religion". This was the standard excuse given then by the apologist, which has not changed in 2000 years of the evolution of Christianity.

Tertullian and Justin Martyr are specifically mentioned.

The thing is that Christians do not believe the devil is an autonomous creature that acts independently from God's will. Indeed, as the book of Job plainly illustrates, the devil is subject to God. So, if there was any mimicry going on, it was God who gave the devil license to do it.

Why would God allow the devil to muddy the waters when it comes to the uniqueness and legitimacy of the work of his own Son? Well...

We'll just add that to the list of failures for Yahweh, then. He's not only evil. He's also incompetent.

No, just an underachiever.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Xtians don't know what they think. They make it up as they go along.
