Aids

Lots of bible based stuff. What particularly?

You want people to get AIDS?!? Why?

All of it. (The bible.) I have cut out the 'religious doctrine' bits and created a picture of God solely based on the bible.

And I have a thread that goes in detail, but I was diagnosis with HIV/Aids 20+ years ago and it changed my life, after praying a 'whatever it takes to know you are real prayer.'

My Aids scare was apart of my journey in finding and maintaining my faith in God. I offered to pray the same, what ever it takes prayer for anyone looking for God.

Stimmy took my offer and spun it so he can minimize whatever I say without having to actually address relevant content, just like he did a couple of posts back.

I'm clearly missing out on some of the humour here. What's funny about cancer and AIDS?

I apologise for doing you a disservice.

Actually your attention to detail is telling of your commitment to the truth of the matter.

No disservice here, it actually gave me an oppertunity to frame my words in their orginal context... Something you generally omit.

I'm sorry for your illness, and glad that you found solace in prayer. I hope that you had medical help too.

You haven't helped me much in terms of your beliefs though. The bible says many things, like hating homosexuals, accepting slavery, refusing prawns and selling your sister, so you presumably agree with all those things. In which case you can....

Nothing.

I tested positive for HIV, and I had a tell tale sign (skin virus) of full blown aids, then durning my two week blood test period I was 'healed.'

This help me establish belief in God, and I offered in return to pray a similar prayer for anyone else who wanted absolute proof of God in their life.

Stimbo, took that offer and spun it in such a way as to vilify me for not wishing physical health over spiritual health.

Something he periodically brings up when ever he wants to make a jab at me or what I say, without actually contributing topically.

The bible represents two distinct religions. OT Judaism, and nt testament Christianity.

If I lived under OT law/Covenant as an OT Jew then would I follow the OT law and what it says.

As I am a NT Christian, I follow those laws and direction. As a NT Christian I accept both as being direction and the word of God.

RE: Platitudes
Very interesting Drich, a wake up call indeed.
On the topic, we Christians tend to dig a foxhole where we initially hook up to a group.
That is how the denominations started (NOT talking about Catholicism).
Each group from the Reformation onward thought they had it all.
Side issues become mountains.

Here is another facet of us- many of us came to where we are, via being messed- up to begin with.
If that baggage isn't dealt with (by us) over time (and dealing with it IS something we are nudged to do by God- still our choice), it comes out.
We and everyone else, cover up with a platitude at times.

Yeah, I'm all for censorship and totalitarianism. That's why I went back and found the "orginal context" which you omitted:

Oh, and I seem to have spotted a certain 'c' word in there. It would seem that your attention to detail is telling of your commitment to the truth of the matter.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Spotting the 'c' word does not mean it was the only thing I prayed for. Again the prayer was for whatever it takes... Aids, cancer, winning lottery ticket.. Again, whatever it takes.

I find myself astonishingly unable to care. Your insinuation - actually, it was a downright assertion - was that I unjustly accused you of wishing cancer on people, when all the time it was HIV/AIDS. You used my wording to allege a cavalier attitude to the facts. And guess what we find..?

Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?

Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.
