God is NOT Dead! In other words, despite the Biblical errors(not presented in the film), Jesus has to be god incarnate despite Christian misbehaviours on the contrary!

The quote based on the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, is not completely accurate because there may be a "god" but it is not Jesus! There is a universal and neutral "god" in the universe.

"God is NOT Dead" the Christian film directed by Harold Cronk

oh, COME ON! They just HAD to kill the atheist in the end, didn't they? It couldn't have been some peaceful resolution with his gf, he had to die and accept god in fear before he did. Talk about one-sided......

I think that's one of several stereotypes or memes in the film. You have the angry, bitter atheist who doesn't believe in god but blames him for something, the pure young Christian man who wins the day because Good Always Triumphs, and the "no atheists in foxholes roadside ditches with their entrails hanging out" meme.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I thought it was a bad indie amateur film who got to the box office just because the US is full of fundies. Isn't it?

I doubt it. However, in keeping with the evidentiary standards of the Bible, if it did have such a third act the action would have to take place off camera and be related by a voice-over in which the narrator intones, "I have it on good authority . . . "

I think this film is not an accurate representation of Christianity. It's the fundamentalist Christian who gets voice here and he rarely shows up in a good light. Of course, he is also probably the most vocal.

It's made by Christians, who think they are a good representation of Christianity. They made themselves look as good as they could.

Not all Christians are the same. I think the problem with fundamentalists is they they feel they have to preach and convert others. That's why they are the most vocal and the side of Christianity that is more globally visible. Most Christians however, I'm sure, are content to hold to their beliefs and share the worldview with others.

And, they all think they're a good representation of Christianity. You can have your favorite types of Christians, but you can't really call someone a "bad representation of Christianity" unless of course you know what the right representation of Christianity is. That's why I avoid the whole "good Christian" versus "bad Christian" bullcrap, it's not my job to determine who's the right kind of Christian.

Well, thats where I think the Bible causes problems. If you just accept the NT(the part specifically involving Christ), you have the more forgiving and understanding Christians. Fundamentalists however also cherrypick the OT when they want to bring up the more hateful side of God as backup for their values.

Which is why I don't call people as "bad representations of Christianity".
