Ignoring a hate filled agenda isn't perspective, it's deliberately blinkered. To me, it's unhealthy to over indulge in negativity. There just happens to be a lot of negative focus on this site. Is certainly not all bad, and I appreciate the serious discussion, and fun times we have. But a lot of it is. Some days I take a look at the new posts feed and don't really want to look. But you never know if there are any jewels hidden in the shit. Usually it's all shit though.

Asserting that this forum, which is the topic under discussion, has an agenda at all is one perspective. Asserting that it is "hate-filled" is another.

To me, it's unhealthy to over indulge in negativity. There just happens to be a lot of negative focus on this site.

You see it as negative because it stands against something you hold dear. We thus return once more to the idea of perspective. Myself, I see the dismantling of religion as a positive thing, and look forward to the day you and your faithful brethren remove the shackles from your minds.

Don't look now, but you're being negative.

The fact is, few posts are great, no matter the forum you're reading. The curve is thin at both ends of the bell, for one thing; and for another, the natural inclination is to attach greater value to those posts with which you agree. Considering that you're on a forum which disagrees vocally with a major tenet of your life, your disenchantment is no surprise.

Hate filled agenda? That takes it too far frodie. There is no agenda at all. There are many reasons why forums like these have a lot of negativity. I would say the number 1 reason being that most of us have real life friends and family to share our good stuff with, but no one to vent about bad stuff to. I definitely think the good positive things greatly outweigh the bad though. This is, if you can filter out the troll or 2 who are insistent on spamming the entire form with hatred. Those few certainly do not represent the community as a whole. If you need to be reminded that this community doesn't have a hate filled agenda, then just check out Mystik's recovery thread. If you want to know what kind of forum this is truly, post about a serious issue you've been struggling with. Something that is just really hard for you and then ask for advice on how to deal with it. If you're being sincere in your post I think you will see that hateful isn't the word to describe this community.

If you join a group of people assembled because of their common outlook on a particular matter for the purpose of convincing them they are wrong, you will likely find yourself waist deep in shit. I haven't been here long, but I'm continuously surprised at how many Christians are unprepared to hear straight unvarnished answers.

Straight unvarnished answers are what's best about an atheist perspective. To me atheism is ripping up the rule book and starting again. The only ones I'm interested in correcting are those that would restrict my freedom. Humans are more than capitalists pawns. Were capable of caring and supporting each other sustainably. In my mind expressions of faith are an example of that, as are the various notions of non faith.

I think that covers the majority, certainly the majority of posts, so I don't think it's going too far. Venting hatred breeds hatred in my opinion.
