This. So much this. When I was a teenager I once drank all of my dad's melon juice and filled the bottle with pickle juice. My dad hates pickles. The amusement was worth the punishment, but I was punished and he didn't think it was funny at all. It was a harmless prank, strangely lacking of sexual assault.

"Boys will be boys" doesn't cut it. Just imagine it the other way around. If the prank was women coming up behind men and yanking down their shorts in public while filming their reaction then running away while laughing. Doubtful I'd look at it as "girls will be girls", and we shouldn't give that crappy excuse for men either. Just don't fucking touch people, simple.

I'm a SART and DVRT advocate, and yes, it is black and white. It's sexual assault, akin to rape. These sorts of "pranks" have me on call tonight.

Sharking is a practice that involves the pulling down of unsuspecting women's either tops or lower clothes in public exposing their body while another persons either only watch it or film it as well.

Since I can't post nude images here I'm gonna ask you to go to youtube and type " sharking street " if you want to watch it for yourselves.

So tell me what is your opinion on this subject. You think i'ts horrible? An innocent prank? Worth going to jail?

It mostly practiced in Japan and Europe.
However in Japan the pranks are more exaggerated and extreme while in Europe not so much.

And again, I reiterate: sometimes the film of this stuff ends up on porn sites. In fact I'd never even heard the term before I came across it on an adult streaming website. This is not just some prank, and we can't exactly pretend that it doesn't have some sexual dimension for the perpetrators either; it isn't a coincidence that even the OP's quoted description of sharking describes the victims, specifically and exclusively, as female.

Regarding the age argument and "minor" assault: if you give teens a pass on "minor" sexual assault, when they're adults they're more likely to graduate to major assault and rape.

I am not sure if there is such a legal thing as minor assault. It's not assault with intent to kill or inflict grave bodily harm, but it is assault.

I believe since the perpetrator makes physical contact with the victim, it's not just assault, it's assault and battery, which is more serious then just assault.

... and because it's sexual in nature, if the state has a sexual battery charge, it might fall under that rubric.
