My parents weren't religious but they never told me there wasn't a deity. Indeed we never spoke about any sort of gods. I made up my own mind it was bullshit at a young age after being told there was a god by a particularly evangelical teacher.

A parents job is NOT to pre-indoctrinate the child for fear of later indoctrination, as a parent we should just teach them to approach everything logically and skeptically.

Teach them to question instead of serving the answer on a silver platter.
