RE: I voted
I didn't vote. I know, I know... I'm a bad person. Girlfriend did, though.

I didn't ask her who she voted for, though some of the things on the ballot she tossed up without my asking. Woohoo, fracking ban. Nifty.

I didn't vote either. The only candidates I knew and cared about were pretty much shoe-ins, so I didn't see the point. I tend to be apathetic about politics anyway.

I'm pretty sure the political landscape will look no differently than if I had.

Well here in California all but one of the ballot initiatives I voted for won.

Speaking of which you can now smoke pot in the United States Capital! That's right, DC legalized weed for recreational use!

So cheer the fuck up. Democracy is awesome, we just need to exile our puppet dictators.

RE: I voted
I live in kind of a bizzarro area, in terms of politics.

The state I live in is fairly solidly blue - our governor and both senators are democrats (and have been for some time), statewide initiatives tend to favor liberal causes, and I live right next door to a overwhelmingly liberal city and county. Large cities in the region tend to vote democrat.

Yet, the county I live in voted (and historically votes) 2:1 for the republicans - and it's not likely a rural/urban divide, as the county population is mostly concentrated in the 4th largest city in the state.

RE: I voted
I stood for office once. Trouble was, the voters wouldn't stand for me standing for office.

Oddly enough, I was later appointed to the position I lost by election. Politics is a funny old thing...

Piffle. Libertarian means get the government the hell out of my bedroom and my wallet.

We have a few democrats so politically correct here that they've forgotten what freedom of speech means. They've also forgotten what price controls lead to: shortages.

I'm fiscally conservative. Mostly free market. And socially libertarian. Oh, and a dove. I don't belong to any party.

Bullshit, all you are saying with "get government out of my wallet" is that you don't mind others compensating by paying more in taxes for the less taxes you dont pay yourself.

It is basically selfishness "fuck you I got mine"

It is OUR government and YOU do not get to decide what we pay in taxes. We DOES NOT mean only when you get what you want.

Rich people do not need tax cuts. They sell idiots like you that fucking line then tax you more to pay for what they they dont. And what they dont raise in your taxes they cut in medicare and social security and other benefits that WE pay taxes for.

Idiots like you do not understand the real welfare queens are the rich. You and I subsidize them.

Agreed! If a corporation wants money from the government they should be fully obligated to pay it back. Both democrats and republicans have been intentionally funding wealth inequality with fractional reserve banking. All of the counterfeit fiat currency has distorted our economy. It's all about financial dominance and they call it "creating jobs". They want your indentured servitude. The last thing they want is an economically independent public. Your social security number is just a bar code.

Just how much money do you think I'm made of? Thinking

Quote:It is OUR government and YOU do not get to decide what we pay in taxes. We DOES NOT mean only when you get what you want.

It's a republic. Our government means what we as a people decide absent constitutional constraints. So why does what I vote suddenly become invalid because you disagree with it?

Welfare, as opposed to Social Security, and Medicare/Medicaid accounts for little of the Federal or state budgets. As a stop gap measure, I see no problem it. But no able person should be allowed to live on it for long. Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare are really obligations we can't stop abruptly. People who've paid in should be paid out.

Lower taxes cross the board is lower taxes cross the board. But neither of us can have them until we have less, not more government.

And again, what you pay taxes for is what we and a nation decide. I don't pay income and property taxes with welfare in mind. I do pay Social Security taxes with those very specific benefits in mind.

Idiots like me (thank you very much BTW) would like to see an end to corporate welfare of all types including bailouts--also less regulation.

I think you are a flaming liberal that is just as much brainwashed by the Democrats as the teabaggers are by the gop.
