If you are human being who cultivates a good life for themselves then you would probably never ask the question... but what about those who don't? Or all other animals? I'm just gonna try really hard to survive, even though I don't know why...........

Listen to me, dude. I'm in the shit right now. I haven't got any money to speak off, most of my family has died off, my job is more than insecure, I have debts and I nearly got no friends to turn to. And to top it off, I've got no relationship.

Do I want to live? I don't know. Sometimes I think, it doesn't matter.

So do I contemplate suicide. No. Because I don't know what's behind the next corner. I'm 51 years old right now and sometimes it seems to me, these years have gone by in a flash. So I can wait till my natural date arrives.

I'm not going to sit here and get into life story debates but do you have any experience working in the mental health field?

Are you aware there are much worse things people go through in their lives other than those things?! I would HOPE the reason you don't think that way is because you have never been put into a situation where you honestly feel like it is your only choice. I'm GLAD you don't contemplate taking your life... Consider it a good thing, not a 1UP on everyone else.

Look outside yourself in the sense that NOT EVERYONE THINKS THAT WAY... I'm talking about individuals who do not have that mind set... thus... step outside of yourself... You only take offense if you choose to lol.

Seriously. Chill.

You're talking about others "taking offense" and "mindset" and being "educated enough" to understand you (earlier post).

And then you're using caps every other sentence.

It's making me think that you're a troll. =P

You're not reading any of these posts, are you?

Everyone's answering your questions. You're choosing to ignore them and saying instead that they don't contemplate on taking their life.

I bet almost everyone here has. Please stop being ridiculous.

As someone who contemplates suicide every day, and several times a day sometimes, I can tell you "why" I don't end my life: my sister would be devastated, and so would my friends the rest of my family. It's as simple as that, but that's just me. The best answer to the question, "what is stopping me from ending my life?" is "what has stopped you from ending it until now?"

I don't think the people asking me these questions are stupid... I think it's an honest response to really horrible things happening in life... Good grief!!!

I'm pretty sure you're the only one getting heated here, and I don't think anyone called anyone else stupid...

I'm clinically depressed and I take a whole lot of medication on a daily basis. That's nothing I admit lightly on the internet. But obviously you've run into a wall too.

So the only thing I can recommend is to seek professional help. I certainly don't want to patronize you, but you came here to ask. So I can only tell you, you're not alone in suffering. Medication and therapy have made it managable.

Of course... and when someone says

"That seems like a really stupid question."

That isn't implying that these people are asking stupid questions..?

If I was really heated.. wouldn't it be ALL CAPS... lol.

Of course we get side tracked from the actual question because people like to dwell on other things.

Why wouldn't we have an urge to survive? Hell just eating is one of the most enjoyable things I get out of life. I wish I could do it all the time without turning into a beach ball. I wish I could live purely off of sweets. Eating is awesome!

I hope if you ever run into severe mental health issues that you get someone to say this to you! Smile

I suppose if someone is contemplating suicide, I'd just say think real hard about what you enjoy in life. That's why you should survive. if there's any problem that can be fixed to make life easier, go for that. Personally I don't have experience with suicide. either thinking about it personally, or having friends or family thinking about it. So I don't have much to say on the topic.

The question of life's meaning is a personal one, in my opinion, so you can only really answer it yourself.
