I'm planning on doing pigs in a blanket, mashed potatoes and canned vegis for dinner.

Of course, the title of this thread made me think of the line my dad used whenever someone asked him what's for dinner: "Hawg jawls, black-eyed-peas and cornbread."

Pork spareribs with mild green chili sauce, twice baked potatoes stuffed with green onions and jack cheese, green salad with tomatillos and guacamole.

I made venison burgers for me and my lady. A buddy of mine dropped of two metric fucktons of ground venison. Chopped garlic, some chopped poblano, an egg, fresh parsley, and Worcestershire sauce in the patty, on sourdough buns with baby spinach. I had a fried egg on mine.

So good.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Finally, it got a bit colder here, so there was an excuse to make the first Swiss cheese fondue of the year (technically, it was a swiss-dutch cheese fondue).
It included Gruyere, Emmental and Gouda, and was based on a dry German chardonnay, some cherry schnaps and lemon juice. Spices included mostly black pepper and a bit of nutmeg. The kächeli is first rubbed with fresh garlic, and I dared put the rest of the clove in as well. Secret ingredient: some mushrooms, preferrably dried. The whole thing is then thickened with a bit of starch to make it more homogeneous. We did the dipping and dunking with a baguette, some mushrooms and usually also vegetable dices. Would have had white wine with it, but am on meds, so water it was.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
