I enjoy all kinds of sciency stuff, writing a book on field theory right now, astronomy when there's time, I give public talks on physics and astronomy from time to time, do computer and electronics things, photography, I usually sing in a choir, did some animal protection work, love music, mostly classical and heavy stuff.

I'm a musician and songwriter, and I write prose as well.
I enjoy hiking, and get to do that on the job at Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve outside Austin, Texas. I love reading -- history and science being my favorite genres. Right now I'm reading The Creators, from Daniel Boorstein.
I read a lot of history. I also like reading sci fi a lot, and I do some photography.

Anything I do in life, I do pretty casually. I enjoy soccer. I am the soccer nerd of my family, but I don't hold a candle to a 14 year old girl on twitter when it comes to women's soccer, which I especially like. I have watched maybe 8 matches of the NCAA women's soccer tourney thus far, and will certainly watch more.
I'm looking forward to (N.)Carolina vs. (S.) Carolina, for instance. And I was immensely proud that my home team, San Diego State, got in for at least the third consecutive year. I did fly up to Boise to watch them at Boise State in '12. That's a very random place to ever go, and kind of a nerdy reason to travel 1500 or so miles. I also really do like music. I don't go see it live but once every few years (I'd have loved to see Allo Darlin' at the Soda Bar here in town, but I screwed that up). I like being exposed to new music through KEXP and other radio stations throughout the USA, and also through Spotify's "similar artists" list (which can be hit and miss). I like indie, old jazz, and drone. The former two have all sorts of subgenres, which I used to think was a really pretentious thing, but it really can help categorize who you do like and who you might like. As far as jazz goes, I have trouble remembering artists, but know I like hard bop, in general.

Reading mostly. I don't leave the house without having a book in my pocket. When it comes to my reading interests, it's mostly history, a little bit of philosophy and science. But it's also fiction, ranging from crime over fantasy to horror.
Also model making is one of my hobbies as well as writing and yes, often times the computer is my friend when it comes to playing soem games. When I was younger I would have added repairing cars, but nowadays I'm not so much into getting my hands dirty and lying on a concrete floor. I'm not much into any kind of sports. To tell the truth, I'm a lazy, beer guzzling couch potato. Might regret that later in life. RE: Anyone got a hobby .. or is that what computer games are for?

Is working out considered a hobby? I was 210 lbs of flab, and my family kept picking on me about it. My mother, who was fatter than me, told me I was fat. They kept it up until I finally went to the gym and lost 30 lbs in three months. Now I'm working every week to maintain that.
