Letting go
#11
RE: Letting go
Life can be cruel at times but the more you get attached to something or someone the more you will feel pain later on when this attachment end.
So it is much better not to get so attached in the first place.
We are like grains of sand in the beach.
We may stick together for sometime but as the high tide come we are scattered all over the place.
The old relationship is gone and something new appear.
The only way out this cruelly would be to see in everything and everyone the one behind this creation but as far as your atheism is concern there is no way you can sort out this problem easily.
All the best anyway. Angel Cloud

RE: Letting go
All I know for me is that in times like these, it's always been the little things that kept me going.
I only had to go through a major 'letting go' once so far, thankfully, and it took about 2 years for me to fully stabilize afterwards, and a few more years for residual energy to wear down. So it's definitely not always a fast process, of course individual mileage may vary.

It got a little easier when I stopped thinking about the "big picture" and just focused on normal day to day things.
Like, maybe I'd start to panic or let depression get a hold of me on, say, a Wednesday. But then I might remember that this Friday a new movie was opening that I really wanted to see. So I could just tell myself not to think too much about it till at least after Friday. And so on and so on.

Find something you really like, something pretty normal, and try to put your energy into that and focus on it. But at the same time don't ignore your feelings. Let them go wild, but use that focus if you feel they're starting to go into the danger zone.

And, you've given all us newbies a plate when we first got here.... so now it's your turn!
