I guess I would feel the same way if I was still a Christian and I was faced with the immediate prospect of conclusive evidence that my entire religion is a complete lie.

I would say that this sort of discovery would remove most of the remaining goalpost-movement room left to creatards, but I think that before we reach that point, we're going to see Christians invent a new branch of false science along the lines of "intelligent design", something like "terrestrial origin science". It's nothing but a transparently desperate attempt to legitimize a defunct belief system.

And yet, most hilariouly, even that is infinitely greater evidence in support of the theory of extraterrestrial DNA seeding than any theist fuckwad has ever come close to producing to suggest the existence of any god.

If people like you applied the standards you exhibit towards this article to your own beliefs, you wouldn't be a theist, but stupidity and hypocrisy are very common bedfellows.

I'd really hate to overwhelm the creatards in this stage of crisis and denial, but while you're worrying about the origins of life not being special to Earth, here's some possible life that may very well be special to Earth: Synthetic.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26...H5bnGS9Kc0

Quote:Enzymes that don't exist in nature have been made from genetic material that doesn't exist in nature either, called XNA, or xeno nucleic acid.

ETA: Just to be clear, the XNA and its synthetic brothers are the old news, the breakthrough is the synthetic enzyme.

ETA(again): Aside from the implications of life's origin here on Earth, this is the most exciting bit to me:
Quote:Holliger says that XNAs may also have roles to play in medicine. Because they do not occur naturally, they can't be broken down in the human body. And since they can be designed to break and destroy RNA, they could work as drugs for treating RNA viruses or disabling RNA messages that trigger cancers.

"We've made XNA enzymes that cut RNA at specific sites, so you could make therapies for cleaving viral or oncogenic messenger RNA," says Holliger. "And because they can't be degraded, they could give long-lasting protection."
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

"worrying about the origins of life not being special to Earth" - <worrying, not special> this sentence is all messed up, or maybe you believe the opposite of what you posted.

Cool. I wonder what sort of DNA.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!

No, Snowtracks that is a completely inapt simile. What it is is an indication that very specific organic molecules, the building blocks of life, are not exclusive of earth and that those here may have arrived here as opposed to having arisen here.
But, given that scientists are proving that these kinds of molecules likely did arise here it seems likely that they are at least a somewhat common commodity.

God, angels exist, and any microbes found from outside earth are the result of earth's early asteroid bombardment. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn26...I0_CWctDcs

So whatever science discovers, God gets moved behind it with a sign saying, "I did that! I just forgot to mention it."

From the OP's article:

Quote:What is particularly significant about the new research is that the scientists were able to effectively prove there was no contamination and that the biological parts were created in space and carried to Earth.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

[God, angels exist, and any microbes found from outside earth are the result of earth's early asteroidbombardment./]
This statement is nearly incomprehensible and a complete misreading of the article that you provided. There were no microbes, but rather prebiotic molecules present in the asteroids tested which were not even the same asteroids referred to in the article. It's no wonder you arrive at unsupported conclusions if you cannot understand what you read.
