Absolutely correct, but we shouldn't evoke confirmation bias by default with those unverified stories because often it will not be even that, and you are in danger of overplaying the skeptic hand the more exaggerated or inaccurate they are.

One time there was a woman who had guests so she locked her unruly daughter in the bathroom. The girl kept screaming and shit. Then when the guests went home, the mother unlocked the door. ....the girl vanished
