Einstein
A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.

RE: Einstien
OK, who misspelled "Einstein"?
And I thought atheists were supposed to be smart (insert sarcasm here).
I just tell it like it is.

Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio:

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

Not atheistic at all but it's one of my favourite quotes ever.

'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Jer 8:8

These threads should be merged into one. We only need one thread for aheist quotes, as long as the author of the quote is declared, whether it be a member of this forum or someone famous.

RE: Einstein
The whole point of having a forum for quotes is to separate them out according to the author. That way people can create new threads for new people, and people can add / comment on the quotes in each one.

There are plenty of websites dedicated to atheist quotes but most of these are just long lists. Many people write papers and blogs about atheism and quite often want to cite various individual quotes.

If I wanted to find a quote by Carl Sagan it would be far easier for me to simply look at the quotes by him rather than wade through 'all' the quotes by everyone. If you bought a book of quotes and found that it was just one huge list with no particular sorting or indexing then you might be a bit miffed about it.

Think of this forum as an atheist quotes book.
