There are too many people I have to believe in but don't care for at all for that to be true. I only wish they would disappear when they fall beneath my contempt.

Love is the situation that exists when another person's happiness is essential to your own. I think that definition holds true even if you don't believe in the person involved.

I believe that love is ineffable.

Believing someone means that you're crediting their words with truth.

Believing in someone means you're either crediting their existence with truth, or exhibiting faith that they can or will do what they announce as intention.
