Some people need weed.

RE: Some people need weed.
Regarding strength concerns about 'weed' over the years, I point out in my own pre-12 Stepper days, I sometimes used hashish and hash oil.

Turns out I am allergic to very high concentrations of the cannabis plant, and was courting anaphylactic shock every time. I'd develop enormous hives on my skin, and was damn lucky to not code out. Didn't slow me down though.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I used to smoke out regularly, but after I became a dad, it felt like a shitty thing to do, and almost as bad, I started noticing impairment in my memory, such that I was having trouble with remembering stuff even when I wasn't high, so I stopped smoking out ... think I've done it twice since 2004. I'm cool with it, if anyone else wants to get their smoke on I don't think the state should interfere so long as they're not driving, or working daycare, that sort of thing.

Somehow I doubt marijuana is anything close to those numbers.

The only crime I ever committed high on weed was, I mugged my refrigerator.

Just like today, that depended on who and where you were. Marijuana use rates amongst blacks and latinos were high enough to garner Federal concerns, and indeed, one reason it was outlawed was because such outlawing was seen both as a demotivator to Mexican immigration and one more petty injury to be inflicted upon blacks in the days of Jim Crow.

I had the same guilt, Thump. I never smoked in high school, but after graduation, I played Halo:CE in a clan of potheads. We'd play, smoke, hackysack, and play. Then I met my lady, and had a kid. There was probably three times after she was born that I smoked and I felt horrible every time, the whole time. Wasn't worth it any more.

Thing is, I can't operate on the shit. My schedule has to be clear if I want to get high. When you have a kid, your schedule is never clear. That's not to say I'm against it, or that you're a bad parent if you smoke (some people are pros at smoking weed), I just couldn't hang.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Avoiding Indica is the way to go in that spot. Sativa is where it's at. Tongue

Cannabis sativa vs cannabis indica. The effects are noticeably different between the two. You can (well, I can) function on sativa, though I wouldn't be operating any machinery.

Oh! See, I'm such a novice, I didn't even know there were option. I thought it was just varying strengths. Even when my pot smoking days were at its peak, I was only ever smoking my friend's stuff. Never bought it, never got a dealer, never bought a trippy poster.

I think of Sativa as my "get-it-done" weed and Indica as my "sleepytime" weed.

Although, these days, "someone's-smoking-me-out" is the only weed I can have... and I'm not picky.

Thanks for the info. It points to another important difference between then and now that I hadn't considered: the association with blacks and South American immigrants was stronger (these days the rate of use is no different between blacks and whites), and the stigma against things associated with blacks and South Americans was stronger among white people. Nowadays, especially among young people, there is no race-related stigma at all. At least not in the US or UK.

In fact I would put money on it being the middle aged and older who would by far complain the most if cannabis were legalised and alcohol banned, in part because most alcoholics are middle aged or older. Young people would be shocked at first and worry about what they'll do when they go out, but once they'd gone to a bar, pub or club and found that many of the strains on sale boost energy and confidence just as alcohol does, without making them crappier dancers or making them throw up, they'd accept it pretty quickly.
"Faith is a state of openness or trust. To have faith is like when you trust yourself to the water. You don't grab hold of the water when you swim, because if you do you will become stiff and tight in the water, and sink. You have to relax, and the attitude of faith is the very opposite of clinging, and holding on. In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be."
