YAHWEH killing us all in that terrible flood. Oh then there was the time he sent plagues to cover the land as well.

Oh and let's not forget the time he turned us all against each other by making us into something he told us was inherently evil, thus enforcing the notion that we need to rid ourselves of ourselves by killing ourselves in order to be saved from ourselves.

Did you know that our agricultural output (In the US) has more than quadrupled since 1930 alone (the country has not quadrupled in size during the same period)? Keep in mind that as a statistic that number was essentially static for thousand of years (not necc for the US, of course, but globally). Minor shelf in the middle ages - maybe- but total radio silence since inception until the twentieth - relatively speaking.

(China and India have also undergone a "green revolution" recently. Africa-special case......)

The mechanization of agriculture brings with it its own dangers. The ability to support a larger population also implies continued, and deepening, depredations upon nature; greater reliance on fossil fuels; and a larger reservoir for microbial evolution, coupled with incomparably faster transmission rates due to crowding and modern transport.
