Poc, I'm sure most, if not all, of the companies you listed would fail. The problem is that Apple likes to pretend to be completely superior.

That's my feeling as well... all would show the same regard for the workforce. So.. should we blame apple for it? Or raise awareness for the conditions under which all consumer electronics are assembled in China? And who says consumer electronics... might as well say anything "made in China" WTF?!
I don't think that there's a dichotomy between blaming both general conditions and specific companies.

Though yuppie and preppie implied making new money or having old money and hipster includes young adults with a liberal arts degree living in their parents' basement.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
Nothing new there Min. The story has been around for quite some time now and it's a given that most CEOs gladly take a piss on workers, if there's just one additional dime to be made by exploiting them.
The whole system since the late 20th century is screwed. Sure, why not? None of those other companies try to tout how "greenly" innovative they are. Others try too... http://www.google.com/about/datacenters/efficiency/ http://www.microsoft.com/environment/ https://www.apple.com/environment/ http://www.samsungrenewableenergy.ca/ They just haven't been called out for it. PS: note that I'm no mac fanboy. I use an Asus laptop, running win7, and carry an android phone which I like very much. And dread when I'm required to use anything related to itunes or quicktime. But I also like fairness and loathe unjust persecution. Either persecute them all, or none.
Apple has more of a reputation for those things than the others. Microsoft might claim green energy, but no one associates them with it. So when you castigate a bunch of people for corporate greed and terrible human rights violations, it's natural to shoot a few parting barbs at anyone who was more vocal about being more moral than the others.

Perhaps we are witnessing the limit of marketing for marketing sake... And are also becoming aware of how interconnected things are and how marketers, advertisers and other creative thinkers have been conning a lot of us... |
