RE: Dawkins
Pippy, the fallacies and flaws are valid. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many literary responses to his books, one of which you mentioned. And might I just add that your appreciation is much appreciated, and very admirable. I second fr0d0. xD
I think Dawkins is trying to usher in an activist age of atheism, and who knows where that will lead to. Hopefully people read Dawkins with an open-mind, and close his books with an open-heart. No rest for the wicked, no meat for the pure.

RE: Dawkins
Where did you two have the said disagreement?
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense

RE: Dawkins
Little battles in many threads. They should have a debate about the terms evidence vs. faith in my opinion. I side with Evie on this one so far but would like to see them defend their ideas.

American friends have suggested to me a connection with the notoriously liberal state of Wisconsin -- home of the FFRF (Freedom from Religion Foundation) and centre of the dairy industry -- but surely there must be more to it than that? And how about those French 'cheese-eating surrender-monkeys'? What is the semiotic iconography of cheese?" -- Richard Dawkins on hate mail I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or not when I read that quote yesterday (almost done with The God Delusion, by the way). I forgot the actual hate-mail that came in, but I believe it had something to do along the lines of generalizing all atheists to being the stereotypical "fat, hamburger eating" type of people. ...and to be honest, I love me a good hamburger; as well as cheese. Could be my ethnicity, but who knows? "Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes Religion." -Steven Weinberg |
