Pastor: Sometimes you have to punch kids for the lord.

Quote:There was a young man in Calgary(?), his name was Ben. And I was running the youth (group), I was there for a few years. And he was a nice kid but he was one of those kids that was always just... he was a real smart-aleck. (He) was a bright kid, which didn't help things, right? Made him more dangerous. And we were outside one day --youth group-- and he was just, just trying to push my buttons and he was just, you know, kinda not taking the lord serious. And I walked over to him and I went 'BAM.' I punched him in the chest as hard as I-- I crumpled the kid. I just crumpled him. And I said, I leaned over and I said 'Ben, when are you going to stop playing games with god?' I led that man to the lord right there. There's times that that might be needed.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

What most of you falsely assume is that all "children" grow up with your system of values and remain the weaker vessels.

If you never put yourself working in harms way with a troubled teen who thinks through and expresses himself with his fists then I don't believe your in a position to judge the comment made by the preacher completely, whether or not he meant it the way I do.

No one's falsely assuming anything. We're actually just taking it at face value. Seriously, Tonus was nice enough to type out the the guy's exact words, so read them and then tell me if this was one of those times where punching a minor was justified.

I think a big part of the reason this is important to pay attention to, however, is that this highlights the danger of believing that someone's eternal soul is danger of hellfire and how that can lead one to conclude that the ends will always justify the means. I mean, hypothetically, if punching him actually won this kid over to Jesus, could a Christian truly object to this? How would we know he wasn't destined to be a denying, hellbound heathen otherwise? Even if god himself objected to this type of tactic, would it not be okay to go against his will to save a soul? All you'd have to do is pray for forgiveness anyway.

I'm just wondering how you can even draw a line as to appropriate behavior when someone's eternal existence is on the line.

This idiot isn't any different then the idiot that started this chain letter.

What do you expect from a blood cult?

Quote:

Navy SEALs are always taught
1) Keep your priorities in order and 2) Know when to act without hesitation.
A Navy SEAL was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day he shocked the class when he came in, looked to the ceiling, and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes."
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting."
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the SEAL got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The SEAL went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.
The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the SEAL and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?"
The SEAL calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an asshole. So He sent me."[citation needed]

This gets the christin terrorist all pumped up when it gets reposted.

I am almost positive that I have seen that on facebook. Turning the cheek or blessing those who mock you isnt exactly something all American Christians follow.

Seriously, just watch it before giving us the semi-apology for the dumb fuck pastor.

I'm sorry for guessing what the subject was based on the title and other comments and shoving my disagreement with the preacher down your throat.
In the future, I shall gather all information about said topic and then say a few words about it in your favor, your highness
