DNA is sciency-sounding
Science is bad
Ergo, DNA is bad. QED

Yeah, the above is hyperbole, but the level of basic scientific literacy in this country is appalling.

Considering it's Oklahoma and science we're talking about, it's not really hyperbole.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

The simple answer is "Depends". If heated high enough, long enough or subjected to harsh chemicals then some will be. But it would be pretty much inedible after doing that.

Cooking food won't destroy DNA. The DNA is not broken down until the acids and enzymes in your digestive tract get to work on it.

And this is why genetically modified food is not dangerous. All the spooky, scary, 'unnatural' DNA gets broken down in digestion.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

You have a point there.

Not that it was dangerous to begin with of course - it's not like humans assimilate from the DNA of what they consume.

It wasn't supposed to be a link. I went back and fixed it.

Especially in Oklahoma.

I went up there last week ... I was stunned at both the religious penetration of society, and the number of mouth-breathers. Mind you, I've lived in East Texas and Tennessee, and have been through Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. Hands-down, Oklahoma has the biggest religious presence in society I've ever seen.

I'll be goddamned if I ever have the misfortune of living there.

Your duty is to pastalytize as much as possible. His Noodliness demands it of us.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
