RE: Tech Support
Hit F8 during the start up and it brought me straight to the blank black screen. :p but it did get rid of the use of the mouse point. Lol

I was able to get to the system32 file, but there were no option to launch anything. All the files that read "restore" either bring me to text files or they're empty.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

RE: Tech Support
Are you hitting F8 at the BIOS flash screen? Like when it says "Acer" or "Dell" etc?

So you're not able to get Win+R to work at all?

Yeah that's when I hit it. I'm gonna give it another shot to make sure. Win+R makes the mouse pointer blink a little, so I guess it's probably trying to do something but the screen stays blank.

RE: Tech Support
It seems Advanced Boot Options for Win 8 requires Shift+F8, otherwise F8 just blasts you into "automatic recovery mode." I fucking hate Microsoft.

RE: Tech Support
I'd say go into safe mode and do whatever you want in the usual way.
I never know if it's F8, or F10, or F5 to go into windows boot menu...
M$ seems to say it's F8:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...=windows-7

Just hit the damn key several times from the moment you press the on switch to when it starts doing something, like entering windows...
Oh, but there's a catch: Use F8 or Shift + F8 (doesn't work when using UEFI BIOS & SSDs)

Are you, by any chance using EUFI?
Most likely, yes...

I guess your best bet is to use a recovery USB stick... that's number 4. on that list.

RE: Tech Support
Man I don't know. I tried shift-F8 already, just because my function keys are superscript above their shared function on the keys, but that didn't work. I think my best bet is opening task manager and opening a new task. I'm at least able to browse around in there. But I just don't know enough about these files to find hat I'm looking for.

RE: Tech Support
Oh, yeah... you have task manager available... then go to file -> run, and type the restore program's command "rstrui.exe".

Baaahhh! It worked. I must have forgot the second r in rstRui.exe. Before it would just navigate to more files and dead ends. Right fucking on gentlemen. Checks in the mail.

Seriously, thanks for being patient with my computer skills.

RE: Tech Support
Glad you got it back up.

We can blame CD for the rstui.exe nonsense... Tongue

RE: Tech Support
Well, hopefully the restore works, but I was successful in getting to the restore window with your help. You guys are awesome. Even you, CD. :p
