Would You Respond?

Would You Respond?
Here's a question I was thinking about. This email was sent to me by my grandfather to me and a bunch of other people...

I've gotten random political things from him in the past and I kind of just ignore it... Had this been sent by almost anyone else, I'd be all over this email lol.

Question is... is there anyone in your family that you simply won't bother responding to out of fear of confrontation?

I know my grandpa is extremely set in his ways and responding will just start a war of responses that would never end!

Quote:> > This makes perfect sense, but hell, the democrats are anxious to change and rewrite our Constitution. maybe the dems could increase their ranks by throwing some of this into their agenda and they couldn't be beaten, right? Isn't that what DC Leftist is about, say and do anything to get control of the most wealthy and powerful nation on earth? I'm sure some of you will buy into it because Jon Stewart will get behind it:

RE: Would You Respond?
Eh, just looks like another run of the mill crazy chain letter. I'd just ignore it.

For me personally? No, there's nobody I wouldn't respond to in my family, but that's because we're giant rowdy German barbarians. But when it comes to this kind of facebook/chain letter bullshit, I'd say just let it slide. If he were to specifically message you or bring up the topic in conversation, I'd pursue it.

I get this kind of thing from my dad on a regular basis. The old folks (he's mid 80s) must get on these email chain letter things. The text "don't delete this until you send it on." is common, usually many more more !!!! marks and IN CAPS!!!!!!!

I don't get much real email from him other than the political, vaguely racist stuff. I used to fly over to snopes and debunk the claim (and these emails were almost always hoaxes), but it didn't make any difference.

He would just send the same crap email again a month later.

Now, I just ignore them without reading. Old dogs and new tricks, not likely to change.

Someone needs to explain to this guy that the constitution isn't based on biblical principles, so a muslim can be a good American. Can a christian be a good American? Not if he thinks america should be a theocracy, and our laws based on any holy book.

Haha. A christian would be whining pretty fucking quickly and calling the police if his precious biblical laws were actually used to replace secular laws.

I wouldn't respond other than to politely ask him not to send me stuff like that any more. Luckily people like that are rare.

And I can tell you, the U.S. Marines very much do not echo that sentiment.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Oh definitely. You want to go old testament with your anti homosexual crap? we can go old testament too. Don't let me catch that young daughter of yours outside, unescorted. Definitely don't let me see you doing any kind of work on Sunday.

You love your ten commandments, and that part in leviticus that says homosexuality is an abomination? I've got some old testament verses too. How would you like it if soldiers started bringing young middle eastern girls home, and marrying them in the States?

I actually remember Bryan Fischer using this argument, and then actually said that the same exact points he made about Islam can be said for Christianity, but said that this makes Christians better Americans.

Wasn't it Alabama that passed the amendment that said they couldn't base their state laws on "foreign" laws to head off Sharia Law - and then didn't realize that that would mean they couldn't justify anything by citing the bible because it would also be considered foreign law?
