California Proposition 8

RE: California Proposition 8
I do not know the Koran or Book of Mormon well enough to comment on SAB's accuracy there.

I know some of the Koran and really nothing on the Book of Mormon.

Yeah. I wouldn't want to use them really until I know.
My guess would be that they are reliable. If the King James one is made sure it is. Don't know if they'd be able to get away with them NOT being reliable?
But I'll steer away from them probably since I don't know them. Unless someone who knows them can show to me that they're accurate. For sure.

I say what the hell... use them. If they are inaccurate or out of context then I'm sure someone will let you know.

RE: California Proposition 8
Ok. The only problem then is that some believers might claim that its incorrect when it isn't. As I believe some have done of SAB.
Perhaps I'd need an respectable atheist or anyone else knowledgeable to let me know? I dunno.

RE: California Proposition 8
LOL Does that make me a unrespectable atheist?

If a theist claims it's incorrect just say "Prove it."

Problem solved.Smile

RE: California Proposition 8
Lol. "Respectable" was definitely the wrong word. You're certainly not an unrespectable atheist as far as I can tell! I just had trouble searching for the right word there...that was the best I could come up with lol. What was the word I needed? I remember thinking to myself "What's the word I'm searching for". Lol Tongue
All I mean is... an atheist who is knowledgeable about the skeptics annotated Koran and book of Mormon. OR more people who express your view.
I wasn't including you lol. I just mean I want to get more opinions so I can make sure the decision is right.
I'm pretty sure you're right you see. Even before I asked I was pretty sure the books were correct.
I'm just making sure just in case. To be careful, so I don't mess up. I'd hate to quote to believers stuff that wasn't correct or too out of context. I'd feel bad. Even a bit of a hypocrite perhaps! Lol.
Perhaps its me being obsessive compulsive again. But there's no hard in checking lol Wink
I do respect your opinion of course. But maybe I need more, to be sure - OR someone who knows if the Skeptic Annotated Koran and Book of Mormon are correct. Because you seem to have some doubts as do I. However small. I want to be for sureSmile (not absolute though, don't get me started on that Tongue. I Just want to be confident enough).

Here's a great op-ed piece by Cenk Uygur: Not Another Word on Gay Marriage Until They Execute an Adulterer

It's well written and follows the logic that fundies can't pick and choose which bits of Biblical morality to turn into legislation, and which to discard.

Well, no surprise there.
