Your post implies that "fooling God" would be a concern of mine.

That represents a fundamental ignorance of atheism.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I thought you hypocrites were against the death penalty...

I certainly am. I'd much rather she spend the rest of her life in prison. If you want to look at a hypocrite, you need only look at the people defending her life because of her (supposed) new-found faith.

The story doesn't mention that she paid anyone, just "persuaded".

You are still held accountable for wanting to kill someone without having the blood on your hands. Even if you hired or persuaded someone to kill someone for you. you the person are liable if that person dies or not because you are the one who wants a person dead and that says a lot. finding christ in jail shouldn't even get her off of death row.

As far as I know her boyfriend was an adult and was capable of making the decision NOT to kill the guy.

Not that I condone her behavior, it's just strange that the actual killer didn't receive the death penalty.

Actually, it's quite common for the person that pulled the trigger to get less of a sentence than the mastermind behind the crime. Also, a lot of times prosecutors will make a deal with the actual murderer to get the one who orchestrated the whole thing. Perhaps this is what happened here.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I would have more respect for the people trying to get her off death row if they also worked attempted save other non Christian murders from death row.

Speaking for myself, I take the view - with an almost metaphysical certitude - that the death penalty is always wrong, in all cases, and under any circumstances.

So kindly take the term 'hypocrite', fold it until it's nothing but corners, and shove it directly up your judgmental, ill-informed arse.

If that were true, I don't think you'd be here.

I'm against it because it sets a bad precedent. A religious conversion does not justify clemency.

Nice little rant. Ignorant as always about many of us, since a large part of us here on this board are in opposition of capital punishment. That means, death row shouldn't exist in the first place, which is more than can be said about many of your fellow christians, at least when it comes to politicians. I don't know your stance, so, as opposed to your not so humble self, I'm not including you personally.

So she should get off, but not for the reasons given. She should get off because she got sentenced to a barbaric and inhumane punishment.
