The "Report" button, and how not to treat your staff.

RE: The "Report" button, and how not to treat your staff.
I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to put so much work, time and money into something and still hear people whining. Kudos to all of you who make this possible, your dedication is very commendable and much appreciated.

Going online and interacting with people is something best done only if one has a thick skin.  Whether one is running a site or just visiting.  There are plenty of obnoxious people online one is likely to encounter either way.

I just wanted y'all to know that I'm giving you imaginary kudos. In the meantime, if you want something more physical, I'm going to hand out cookies. Here's one for all the hard working folk trying to make the forums better: Cookie

Well, if you want that, you can start your own site and....

The easiest way to keep from going nuts is to remember that there will always be people who complain.  Some complaints will be legit, but a lot of them will be frivolous, and you will occasionally get a person who tries to make it personal.  Funny, I'm a lot more laid back now than I was when I was a site mod/admin, but that's just how things go sometimes.  I could've used my current attitude back then.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
