Same here. I'm a huge wuss. I think part of it is that with my physical disability, I can neither fight nor flee all that well. Jump scares are the worst.

The jumpscares get to me the most in horror flicks, cos I'm naturally jumpy, but the supernatural aspect just frustrates me most of the time

The worst part is that even if I wasn't scared when watching, those scenes stick to my brain and I keep having nightmares about them, for days after. And some movies are just REALLY dumb, like just at the opening credits you can tell they're not even trying

The one and only horror movie that freaked me out was the first Dracula with Christopher Lee. I was about 7 back then.

I quite like the ufo stuff ... not the docos, they're just unbelievably funny.

Quote:I increasingly find Supernatural stories/films more and more tedious.

Hollywood has an unbearable tendency to keep making the same movie over and over, so I can see your point.

Jump scares are not only the worst, they're actively irritating because they're the laziest form of scare possible. They can be done effectively... but a lot of times they aren't, it's just silence and then boo! So it's not just that we're getting hit with a startle (it doesn't scare anybody, just startles them) but we're also missing out on a decently composed scary moment in the process.

Yeah, jump scares are the worst part about scary movies. They're so cheap. You'd be hard pressed to offer me a quality one that doesn't completely take me out of the experience with its transparency. *music swell*=> *jump scare* or *music swell*=> *small animal/best friend*=> *breather/calm/silence*=> *jump scare* every time.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

Eh, I am too much a horror fan to be scared by what I view anymore, especially when real life is much scarier.

I used to be scared to death by horror movies when I was a kid. However, after years of dating my girlfriend (who loves horror movies), I have become immune to the fear that they used to instill within me.

For now at least...

I fainted watching a B/W horror movie many years ago. Don't recall the title, but the scene involved skinning a woman's leg. There was a big knife, she was screaming, and the bad guy was peeling her leg.

I realize now there was latex smeared on her leg and that was what was being pulled off, but it was still really gross.
