Can I please have a quick answer to the following burning question.
I tried the internet but couldn't find an answer I am happy with....

When a dog sniffs another dogs arse, what are they trying to accomplish?
Is it to see what they've eaten, it can't be a "heat" thing can it?
Is that the only real way a dog can work out if it's a female?

Has a dog ever sniffed an arse and thought: pooh, you stink you smelly bastard, or is it just like tasting different flavours of ice cream?

What are your professional opinions?
Religious people are more than welcome to shed any insight...

Many dogs use the sense of smell as their primary sense, though not all of them. Many animals mark their territory by peeing on stuff. So when a dog sniffs a tree, and tries to track the scent, he sniffs another dog's butt to confirm the scent.
