I found this to be an interesting read.  It is a tad long and tends to diverge into personal history along the way, but a worth read for those interested.

In the beginning
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.
-- Homer Simpson

God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion.
-- Superintendent Chalmers

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
-- Ned Flanders

Once something's been approved by the government, it's no longer immoral.

RE: Cosmology
Steinhardt is conflating his hobby (criticism of inflation) and the criticism of the overhyped BICEP2 results a bit too much. One has not much to do with the other, and the article makes it falsely sound as if the failure of the BICEP2 collaboration to properly interpret their experimental data somehow lends credence to his criticism of inflationary theory.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psalm 14, KJV revised edition

RE: Cosmology
It almost sounded like the future of inflation was hanging in the balance, with BICEP2 as the last, best chance to rescue it.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Albert Einstein
